Hurricane Alex

As of right now, a hurricane seems to be knocking on my door literally.
Here is a link to Hurricane Alex.  (I love this site) {It totally Works for Me!}

Bad news:
Two out of my five kids are ill with ear infections.  My kitchen has no sink, no dishes, no stove, no oven and no flooring.   We are at a standstill at the moment with the kitchen remodel due to the storm.
Good news:
We have lights, a/c, gas, food, water, charged cell phones, chocolate, and did you catch chocolate?
Due to the fact that I’m so sleepy and haven’t had a chance to blog this week (I’m blaming Alex for all of it) – I will be posting more kitchen remodel pictures next week.
Until then we thank you for your thoughts and prayers in South Texas and Northern Mexico.
Blessings to you!  You are loved!

Wind Farm in Texas

We interrupt the usual REMODEL posts to share our road trip.IMG_3694Just got to say, I love my man!sweet hubs I like adventures.  He likes to build things.  We cater to each other’s needs.  He bought me an AWESOME camera and lets me take weird roads in the middle of nowhere to get pictures.
I let him tear up our house.Road to the windThis was a road in honestly… no-man’s land.Windmills GaloreWe didn’t even see a tractor or a cow.win win windJust these beautiful things.lonely windmill 1 I’m not sure if you call them windmills or green energy.lonely windmill 2 They look like lady’s legs dancing through the air.Lonely WindmillWe had heard that they were noisy but we didn’t hear anything.1 I’ve always been interested in windmills.  I like the whole idea.2 Using the wind to make energy.   I like using natural resources that God has given us such as the wind to make a/c in my home.3 Because I like to stay cool.  I live in Texas where it is not cool.4 To tell you the truth – I have no idea if my energy company uses these and I’m okay with that.  I have other things on my mind at the moment.  Like…5 getting our remodel done.  And getting a new a/c put in our house because ours is on the blink.
Back to the windmills… 6 These things are huge!  We drove up to one.

We didn’t see any signs saying “no trespassing” or I assure you my hubs would not have driven up to one.

7 Did I mention – HUGE???8 Here is the door…oh, I really wanted to go up and touch the stairs.  But, I got scared.  Yep, the gigantic blades turning are quite frightening.  10 So, next time Mr. Windmill – Be forewarned!
I’m touching those stairs.
In fact, I’m contacting someone and asking permission to enter and go up to the top.
(If I do…I kind of hope they deny my request because Mr. Windmill is HUGE!)

Blessings to you!  You are loved!

Everyday it’s a gettin’ closer (Kitchen Remodel Pt 18)

Just a QUICK QUESTION:
What do you like about your top cabinets?
We are about to make ours and need input!
Decorating during a remodel is probably not recommended by most professionals. GladiolasBut, I just couldn’t help myself.   Not to mention, we are not professionals.  We do this because we love each other.Kitchen barI had flowers from my own garden and a bar that we built because we love each other.   Floating... Now my hubs was floating the “lost” sheet-rock.  It was found under the ugly 70’s paneling.  We removed it because it did not represent our “love.”Decorated Living Room He stayed up until the wee early hours in the morning finishing up.  I would have helped but we have decided it is better for our marriage and showed true “love” if I don’t help him floating.
(I think if we did it over, it would be more flexible…don’t even ask about the gorilla glue incident.  Oh, I will BLOG about that one soon…be ready to laugh!) Pretty BarTaped and Floated bar showing the love…Let there be light Let there be LIGHT!Pacmans Have you ever seen these before?
They are my lazy Susans (they look like huge Pac-mans)!New cabsThese are my cabinets for the bar.  The lazy Susans are going in that corner!  Granite is going on top-talk about LOVE!  Whohoo! ovens...My oven (how I missed thee!) IMG_3969 The tape and floated walk-in pantry!IMG_3970 And, my other custom built cabinets!  We actually built them all by ourselves.  Can’t wait for them to go in…IMG_3971 This is my pantry door.  It just looks so sad against that wall-don’t worry, it has a special place.IMG_3972The song by Buddy Holly seems to fit best for us…
Everyday it’s a gettin’ closer
Going faster than a roller coaster…
…Everyday it seems a little stronger
Everyday it lasts a little longer…
Blessings to you!!!  You are loved!!!

Making Progress but not ready to PARTY - Kitchen Remodel Part 17

Welcome to our Mayhem!  We have been Remodeling like CRAZY!
Are you ready to party or have guests over?  We are notdining room This is our dining room!  (No dining table to dine on!) Our living room without a place to sit!   We did remove the yucky paneling!  It is GONE baby! So is the carpet!   Take a look at the bar!  It has electricity!bar See it closer!  Notice the power Sonic Drink! Remember what it used to look like… Now this!  Whohoo! Before:  Crazy Closed-in Wall Now an Open Bar Notice no more florescent lights…just recessed. Can’t wait to show you what goes here! My Pantry!  (I keep calling it a closet.)  I’m so going to hide in there from the kids! We even put plugs in there to charge flashlights and a special place for the toaster.  The toaster will never be seen unless you go into the pantry! The other part of the pantry. My scriptural oven cubby hole. No more back-splash. No more headers! No more ugly oven hood. No more wall and only 1/2 a cabinet. No worries…all the cabinets are coming down.  My hubs has built all new custom cabinets (and I helped.) Another view of the bar. Don’t you wish you had a wheel-barrel in your kitchen?  I heard it is the new fad! This is where a decorative shelf will go.  I love it! My guest room.  It is so bad.  Luckily, no one is staying with us at the moment. There would be no place for them to lay their head.IMG_3924 I guess if we were to have guests they could just reach over and get themselves a can of beans if they got hungry in the middle of the night.  We supply a can opener and everything!  We cater to our guests like that!

So, tell me the truth...would you have attempted this?
Yeah, me neither.  (smiling faintly)
